Brief Biography*
Abílio Oliveira was born in Lisboa, in 1965.
Professor on the Department of Information Science and Technology (DCTI-ISTA), at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. with Habilitation in Information Science and Technology.
Degree in Information Systems and Computer Engineering. Master Degree in Social Psychology. PG in Bioethics. PhD in Social Psychology. Member of some scientific Associations, such as, Núcleo de Estudos do Suicídio (Centre for Studies in Suicide), Sociedade Portuguesa de Suicidologia (Portuguese Society of Suicidology) and Centro de Investigação em Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informação Avançados (ADETTI-IUL).
Researcher at Information Sciences, Technologies and Architecture Research Center (ISTAR-IUL) (cf. Scientific profiles). Involved in projects related to applied computing, gamification, technology acceptance, cybercultures, information society, information systems, technologies and education, adolescence, childhood, music, education and learning, suicide prevention, virtual communities and social networks. In short, he focuses his work in data science and applied computing to the study of human behavior, in different contexts.
Author of many scientific papers, chapters in portuguese and international publications, and some books, namely, 'Jogos Sérios - A Arte de Gamificar' (Serious Games - The Art of Gamification), ‘O Desafio da Morte’ (The Challenge of Death), 'O Desafio da Vida' (The Challenge of Life), ‘Ilusões na Idade das Emoções’ (Illusions in the Age of Emotions) or 'Demanda' (Quest). He has participated in several scientific events, and other actions toward the community.
He is vegetarian, loves Nature, running (and other sports), philosophy, poetry, reading interesting books, listening to good music (always), radio, and the true art. Above all, he tries to learn something more in each day (in order to be useful), advocating the cooperation between us all, peace and a sustainable way of living, to preserve this beautiful planet, respecting and promoting Life!
